Vodacom Tanzania has launched the intelligent smart phone Kitochi KaiOS. In a report released by the mobile network operator, the device is advertised as the first smart phone available on the Tanzanian market and sells for 48,000 TZS ($ 20).
Smart Kitochi can connect to the internet and social media. It comes with Wi-Fi, GPS and a 1400 mAh battery, as well as a dual SIM hybrid connector that can support two SIM cards with 4 GB + 512 RAM.
The company added that KaiOS supports 3G + 4G / LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS and Hotspot and has described the mobile operating system as the third largest system in the world, operating with over 100 million delivered in Africa, Europe, Asia and America
Sebastien Codeville, chief executive officer of KaiOS Technologies, said, “The digital divide across Africa as a whole remains very large. According to Vodacom, this device is currently available only in Tanzania, but will soon be “in other African countries”.
