SuperSport has seized the live broadcast rights to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) covering 50 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
The financial agreement and the duration of the agreement were not disclosed.
The President of WTA, Micky Lawler, said, “We are thrilled to bring women’s tennis back to broadcast throughout sub-Saharan Africa. With SuperSport covering 50 countries within the region, fans will once again have the opportunity to witness the exciting action of the WTA Tour on the new SuperSport Tennis channel.”
On the other hand, the CEO of SuperSport, Gideon Khobane, stated, “This is an exciting acquisition and reaffirms our commitment to women’s sport. The women’s game is in a great space and we look forward to bringing the rivalries and storylines to our viewers across the continent.”
