South African television channel eNCA (DStv 403) has switched to high definition (HD) stream, using a new curved LED video wall which it believes will be the largest studio screen used by a television channel in Africa. The transition from ENCA to HD comes more than eleven years after the deployment of the eMedia Investments channel on MultiChoice’s DStv satellite Pay TV platform.
ENCA will now be broadcast on DStv as an HD news channel in South Africa and other countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. ENCA’s new HD studio comes six months after the channel’s last studio change, which received lukewarm reviews from viewers and the industry.
Joe Heshu, chief corporate officer at MultiChoice, said that the introduction of his HD studio’s eNCA aims to ensure that MultiChoice can actively support the local television industry and create lasting collaborations with regional stakeholders.
