Safaricom partners with Amazon to offer more cloud services in Africa

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing platform, has just inked a strategic deal with Kenya’s largest mobile operator, Safaricom to provide more cloud services in Africa.

Safaricom said that the agreement will let the operator resell AWS services and it should fasten Safaricom’s internal IT transformation, decrease operational plus and provide a blueprint and skilled resources to support customers with their journey to the cloud.

The CEO of Safaricom, Michael Joseph, added, “We chose to partner with AWS because it offers customers the broadest and deepest cloud platform, overall commitment to security excellence, and a strong culture of customer obsession. This agreement will allow us to accelerate our efforts to enable digital transformation in Kenya.”
