Arabic broadcasters – Qatar TV and Al Kass Sports Channel – have signed a partnership with Elemental Technologies, Oregon based software-defined video solutions provider.
The Arabic networks have deployed Elemental Live, Elemental Server and Elemental Conductor systems to process and deliver video for distribution on mobile phones and tablets, generate additional advertising revenue and prepare for World Cup 2022. These three solutions transcode up to 14 hours daily of high definition live content, video-on-demand for catch-up TV and cinematic content delivering 25 HLS adaptive outputs for portable devices.
“Our state-of-the-art broadcast operations rival any in the global media market today and are future-proofed to support major events in the future, such as the 2022 World Cup,” said Essa Ahmad Al Hitmi, Al Kass Head of IT Broadcast.
“Qatar TV and Al Kass represent some of the strongest media brands in the Middle East,” said John Nemeth, VP sales EMEA for Elemental. “We are excited to provide the format, protocol and codec agility needed to meet multiscreen video requirements today as well as those that lie ahead with our software-based video processing solutions.”
Qatar TV is an online and multi-channel destination network. It was re-launched in late 2012 with a state-of-the-art facility in Doha. Al Kass is a 24/7 channel which broadcasts domestic and Gulf’s country sports including FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, the AFC Asian Cup and the Gulf Cup of Nations.
