Netflix will add the Nigerian feature film “Hakkunde”, released in Nigerian cinemas in 2017, to its video on demand platform. The information was made public by the American giant and the film crew in publications widely covered by the local media.
The film will be available on Netflix from January 31 next alongside other Nollywood successes much appreciated by subscribers of the video-on-demand platform. The film has won numerous awards since its release, including the award of merit at the Indie FEST Film Awards held in the United States.
The addition of Hakkunde to the catalogue of the world leader in video on demand is a reminder of the enormous progress made by the Nigerian film industry in recent years. You should know that apart from Netflix, the other main streaming and video-on-demand services would also be looking for successful Nigerian film distribution contracts on their platforms.
