MTN Cameroon (MTNC), a subsidiary of the South African multinational mobile telecommunications company MTN Group, has requested a licence from the telecom regulator to deploy 5G.
The operator said it is currently implementing high-impact projects including experimentation with 5G technology and has submitted a request to the Telecommunications Regulatory Board for a relevant licence to test 5G services in the country.
According to MTN, the goal through the deployment is to give Cameroonians access to more modern uses of information and communication technologies.
MTN added: “We deeply believe that everyone has the right to the benefits of modern connected life, MTN Cameroon is currently mobilized in the realization of high impact projects”.
If this project is successful, MTNC will revolutionize the country’s telecom sector owing to the numerous opportunities offered by the 5G technology.
