Mauritius Telecom rolls out 1 Gbps broadband connectivity

Mauritius Telecom begun providing 1 Gbps broadband connectivity. Mauritius Telecom’s flagship service, Home Internet and TV 1 Gbps, has been launched for its residential fibre subscribers. It supplies every my.t TV channel (over 100), three Wi-Fi extenders and unlimited landline calls to other Mauritius Telecom fixed line phones.

It has to be noted that this is the fastest internet service in Mauritius and therefore makes the country the second in Africa, after South Africa, to offer a gigabit broadband. The new product is expected to attract people who download large files or make use of streaming and gaming services.

Sherry Singh, CEO of Mauritius Telelcom, said that it was essential for the operator to adapt its products to meet the needs of its customers. Singh added that the expectations have changed and customers are looking for entertainment, bandwidth and connectivity from a one-stop shop.
