iWayAfrica, the pan-African provider of satellite telecommunications solutions in Africa, announced on August 8, 2018 the signing of a commercial contract with Avanti Communications Group. Through this agreement, the satellite operator and provider of satellite communications services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, gives iWayAfrica the right to offer data services backed by the telecom capabilities of its HYLAS 4 satellite that covers 100% of sub-Saharan Africa.
Mathew Welthagen, CEO of Gondwana International Networks, iWayAfrica’s parent company, said the contract with Avanti Communications Group reinforces the capabilities of the Internet service provider in Africa. Already present in 44 countries of the continent, in Eastern and Southern Africa thanks to the HYLAS 2 satellite, the capacity of the HYLAS 4 satellite launched in April 2018 opens doors to new markets in West and Central Africa.
With its new data capabilities, iWayAfrica will be able to better meet the growing demand for broadband made by the continent’s people, especially in rural and remote areas where terrestrial networks are limited.
