Iran to launch eight new satellite channels

The Iranian state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), is planning to launch eight new satellite TV channels, including three exclusive sports channels, within the next few months, according to Ali Darabi, Deputy Head of the IRIB.

One of the new sports channels will exclusively broadcasting soccer, while the non-sports channels will be dedicated to science and technology, economy, pilgrimage, culture and arts, and tourism.

IRIB currently broadcasts eight national channels, including Press TV, IRIB’s 24-hour English language news channel, four international news channels, six satellite channels for international viewers, and 30 provincial channels.
