The award-winning digital platform for early childhood education and entertainment Hopster has launched its services in Africa in partnership with Vodacom in South Africa and the Congolese telecommunications provider MTN. Hopster is working with the provider of mobile and web application platform Afrika Stream which will deliver its video content to the Congo with the telecommunications provider MTN.
The service was launched in October, but details have not been made public until now. Nick Walters, founder and CEO of Hopster said “We are absolutely thrilled to have launched in Africa with both Vodacom and MTN. We see real potential for Africa to be a ‘leapfrog’ market – with a new generation of users moving straight to finding their favourite content mobile first, rather than on TV.”
MTN’s mobile customers can access hundreds of French preschool educational programs, books and music for Hopster as part of its time-dependent data plans. International characters such as Pingu and Peppa Pig are presented alongside the highly popular African animation series by Nigerian animator Adamu Waziri, Bino and Fino.
Hopster also works alongside South Africa’s largest telecommunications provider Vodacom, enabling customers to access Hopster video content via Vodacom’s new video on demand service, Video Play.
