A week after the TCRA warned Multichoice Tanzania Ltd against airing FTA TV channels on its subscription list, the company took appropriate measures to abide by the order. The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), announced in a statement that it would suspend the license for Multichoice Tanzania if it kept carrying the FTAs although its license prevented it from doing so.
The Pay TV operator complied with the directive and officially stopped airing the FTA channels as of Sunday August 12. Multichoice Tanzania Ltd said in a statement, “In implementing the order from TCRA and the Minister for Works, Transport and Communication, Multichoice Tanzania Ltd has immediately suspended all the FTA channels, except TBC1, from its DStv decoders,” Multichoice Tanzania Ltd said in a statement.
According to the same statement, DStv subscribers will be able to keep enjoyinh their favorite programmes including the English Premier League, La Liga, Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League and Italy’s Serie A on the DStv decoder.
