Arabsat and Newtec to roll out satellite services in Middle East and Africa

Newtec specialised in designing, developing and manufacturing equipment and technologies for satellite communications, has inked a contract with Arab Satellite Communications (Arabsat), a step to introduce the new High Throughput Satellite (HTS) services in the Middle East and Africa.

The partnership aims on introducing enterprise and VNO services, IP Trunking and mobile backhaul for 3G and 4G services in the Middle East and Africa regions.

Under the terms of the collaboration, Arabsat will roll out a Newtec Dialog platform with a variety of Newtec’s DVB-S2X Wideband modems. The specific modem used for each customer will depend on the market being served, with Newtec’s portfolio offering vertical-specific solutions to offer the best connectivity experience for any satellite application.

Once introduced, the new services will utilize Arabsat satellite capacity, with the initial hub expected to be launch in Europe within the next month.

Commenting on the launch, Thomas Van den Driessche, CEO at Newtec, explained, “The Newtec Dialog platform aims to maximise revenues to achieve the highest profitability with minimised risk, especially when being used to maximise the benefits of HTS networks.”

On the other hand, the CEO of Arabsat, Khalid Balkheyour, declared, “Expanding our partnership with Newtec in this way will help us meet rising market demand for high-throughput and high-performance services, pushing the boundaries of what is available today.”
