Amazon to launch its own music streaming service

Amazon is working on launching a free, ad-supported music streaming service. The service is completely free where Amazon will pay some record labels per stream, no matter how much advertising Amazon sells. Amazon plans to market the service, which would offer a limited catalogue of music at first, through its network of Echo smart speakers.

Just recently YouTube launched their own music streaming called YouTube Music. This music streaming service offers music videos, official albums, singles and remixes amongst other things but unlike the Amazon’s streaming service there is a cost attached to this music streaming services.

Amazon is not new to music streaming. Prime members get access to over 2 millions songs through Prime Music while Amazon Music Unlimited has a selection of over 50 millions songs – however those are paid services only.
