The provider of telecommunications and mobile money services stated that the partnership with person-to-person payments and money transfer giant MoneyGram was coordinated with the group’s strategy of extending the range and depth of Airtel Money offerings to enable customer growth and penetration.
The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, Raghunath Mandava, said, “This is a significant step forward in our ambition to transform lives through greater financial inclusion and empowerment across the continent. Maximizing access to global remittances is a key part of this – even more so given the disruption and economic hardship faced by many as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
