The Cameroonian operator, iPlans has chosen World Telecom Labs (WTL) for its new OTT and VoIP service in the country. Since 2006, iPlans provides IT software, hardware and hosting solutions. The company strategy was to provide low cost and easy for people in Cameroon to live, work and visit Cameroon by allowing then to make calls, send texts to other countries at affordable prices.
In line with its strategy, iPlans had developed perfectTalk, an OTT app and also set up numbers through which the VoIP service could be accessed by users. It also offers pre-paid calls service throughout the country.
iPlans will not only use WTL’s VoIP switches but it has also customised the WTL’s web based e-commerce portal ‘Pay & Call’ for its automated customer creation and customer self-care. This move will provide the operator’s customers with a straightforward way to set up their accounts and to manage their online payment for the services.
The service will also be available to the Cameroonian diaspora, especially those in the UK, Belgium and United States. This year only the operator has been awarded a voice license, as a pioneer, in Cameroon, as part of the Government’s ‘Cameroon Digital 2020’ programme to improve the connectivity across the country.
