Vodacom seals deal with Diprente Films and reveals comedy channel on Video Play

Video Play, the video-on-demand (VOD) service of Vodacom, is introducing Gunga7.com, a new local comedy channel, to its subscribers. This launch follows an agreement signed between Vodacom and Dipente Films, the production company, for content licensing.

With this, the VOD service will see its bouquet expanding to 10 and will include content encompassing news, sports, lifestyle, music, gospel, sports, kids, NXT LVL, Siyakha and TV shows. Video Play, to recall, already offers a slew of mobile videos from content producers like eNCA, eTV, Urban Brew and MobiTV. Series, kids programmes, shows and music videos from artists from Africa, South Africa and from around the world.

Shows on the new channel include ‘The Bantu Hour’ (featuring Kagiso Lediga and Hugh Masekela), ‘Next of Next Week’ (featuring Skhumba Hlophe and Thapelo Seemise), ‘Tips Shampoo’ (featuring Ntosh Madlingozi and Celeste Ntuli), ‘Late Night News’ with Loyiso Gola, and the ‘Pure Monate Show’.

Subscription to Gung7.com channel will be charged at 4.99 ZAR (0.38 USD) daily, 14.99 ZAR (1.14 USD) weekly or 39.99 ZAR (3.05USD) monthly.
