Three new FTA stations to enter Kenyan market

Three Nairobi-based broadcasters, Acme Communications, Global Konnect and Number One TV, have applied for commercial free-to-air television broadcasting licences in Kenya.

The broadcasters have been issued temporary permits by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) to roll out digital broadcasting services, pending public feedback within 30 days from 20 January.

With these new stations, the number of free-to-air TV channels in the country has reached 38. The stations will use digital terrestrial broadcast signals of KBC’s subsidiary Signet, Chinese-owned Pan Africa Network and Radio Africa Group’s Lancia Digital.
