StarTimes, the Chinese Pay-TV operator launched the 2017 Beijing TV dramas and movies broadcasting season in Africa, precisely in Lusaka, the Capital city of Zambia.
It is the fourth time that the Beijing TV dramas and movies broadcasting season in Africa is launched, and the first time was it done in Zambia. The country’s audience will see eight hit TV soaps and movies on StarTimes. The company, holding 35 branches in Africa and over 10 million subscribers partnered with the Beijing municipal Bureau of Press, Radio, Film and Television. The Vice-President of StarTimes Guo Ziqi, said that the broadcasting of the series will contribute to the strengthened friendship between Zambia and China.
The television firm has been the fastest growing digital television operator in Africa since its launch in 2002. Wang Yefei, the Deputy Director-General of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television municipality acknowledges the importance to the cultural exchanges between China and Africa.
He explained that the African audience will be enjoying 17 movies and 400 episodes for the upcoming year in several languages like English, French, Portuguese, Swahili, Hausa, Yoruba and Luganda. Kampamba Mulenga, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services appreciated the bilateral relationship between the two countries over the years and said that cultural programs were meant to bring people of the two countries together.
