Showmax new app has been launched last month for the world’s best-selling gaming console, Sony PlayStation 4. The Homegrown video-on-demand service is now available to PS4 owners in South Africa. The addition, it means that PS4 and PS4 Pro owners can watch on-demand TV shows and movies with no need to buy new equipment.
Showmax is an internet TV service with huge catalogue of popular series and movies available with no ads, including weekly episodes of fresh new shows like Mr Robot, South Park, The Big Bang Theory and the full box-set of Friends. Showmax subscribers can start watching their favourite TV shows or movies on their PS4 and then continue watching even when on the move and not connected to the internet. Each Showmax account allows for viewing different shows on two different devices simultaneously. To watch Showmax via the PS4 is a very easy step: Just download the app from the PlayStation Store and then sign in and you are ready to go.
Mario Dos Santos, Chief Executive Officer from Ster Kinekor Entertainment, which distributes PlayStation in South Africa, said, “Partnering with Showmax’s great internet TV service means we can now offer PS4 fans in South Africa the option of watching world-class TV shows and movies directly on their console. With more content and versatility, it’s another reason to make the PS4 the centre of your home entertainment setup.”
Showmax Africa Head, Chris Savides said, “Our apps team has a very simple mandate: give customers the choice to watch Showmax however and wherever works best for them. By adding the app for the PS4, we are aiming to broaden the appeal of Showmax and get even more people using our service.”
