SABC3 channel in South Africa acquired diffusion right of ‘The Avatars’

After its recent premiere in Poland and Brazil, the Boomerang TV Group, Fly Distribuzione and Brave Films co-production, “The Avatars”, is now launching in South Africa. The country’s public broadcaster, SABC, has acquired rights to this teen drama targeted at the international market, which is scheduled to air on commercial channel SABC3.
This sale comes in addition to other important agreements closed in key territories over the last few months, including one with German children’s channel KiKA- part of the ARD regional network and ZDF public broadcaster- which recently acquired Free-TV rights to the series whose premiere is expected soon.

In addition to its broadcast in Poland (Teletoon+) and Brazil (Gloob), the series has aired in other important international territories including Italy (Disney Italia), Nigeria (Cool TV) and several Eastern European countries such as Hungary, Romania, Moldavia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Megamax).

This deal, signed together with Onza Distribution, is another in a long list of sales Boomerang TV has made to major networks all over the world. The company’s fiction series have travelled extensively abroad, particularly “The Time in Between”, which became the first Spanish TV series to air in Japan and the best-selling Spanish TV series in Asia and has also sold to key networks in Europe; “Mum Detective” also recently became the first adaptation of a Spanish TV series to run for two seasons in the U.S.; and Boomerang TV’s daily dramas, “The Secret of Old Bridge” and “Acacias 38” are airing with huge ratings success on Canale 5 in Italy.
