Netflix price hikes in the US will not influence South African users. According to My Broadband, a Netflix spokesperson mentions the rates are “specific to each country, and the US increase does not influence or indicate a price change in South Africa”.
The statement comes after Netflix raised its prices in the US this week, as the streaming service invests heavily in new programs. The new prices for its streaming packages in the US are: Basic package rated from $8 to $9, the Standard from $11 to $13, whereas the Premium package is accessible from $14 to $16.
The price hikes will be applied to all existing members over the next few months. New members will be charged the new price immediately. Its $8 plan will go up to $9 and its $14 plan will go up to $16 a month.
