The South African Telecommunications company announced the launching of its pre-paid, top-up and post-paid Video Data Bundles. The announcement fell right after Telkom launched Telkom Lit service.
The video data bundles have been created for the OTT services like DStv Now and Showmax. They will be sold together with the general data bundles across all channels and offered in different sizes, validity range and price. Vodacom also highlighted the initiative aimed to make streaming services much more affordable to its customers.
The Managing Executive of the digital services of Vodacom, Ashraff Paruk, said the digital content strategy is focused to bring video content easier and simpler to customers via their mobile phones. He added, “As Video on Demand services grow in popularity, we will continue to explore additional content partnerships to give our customers greater value. In September 2016, we launched a charge-to-bill service that, for instance, allows customers to pay for their Showmax subscription from their cell phone account. This has been hugely popular. We have now made it even easier for customers to watch their favourite shows on Showmax and DStv Now by creating specific data bundles.”
The telecommunications company also launched other value-enhancing innovations specifically designed to give customers more affordable access to digital services like YouTube Smart Oflline via the ‘Double your Data’ promotion and the Night Owl Bundles.
