Netflix is looking for business partners to increase accessibility of streaming video platforms. The company said cannot disclose regional subscriber numbers, but it is happy with the general South Africa’s growth.
Netflix said, “Globally, we have over 109 million subscribers and this year, for the first time, our international subscribers surpassed our domestic member base.” Netflix has seen a very promising growth in South Africa since the global launch in January 2016 and is looking forward to make more investments in the market.
In addition Netflix said, “We are learning more and more on what South Africans like to watch and since 2016, we have tripled the catalogue – which will only continue to grow as we learn more. South Africans can look forward to tonnes more content coming their way. We have launched over 450 originals in 2017, and in 2018 we will have over 600 originals.”
Netflix stated that it spent 6 billion USD on content in 2017, and going into 2018 it will spend upwards 8 billion USD.
