NBC launches DTT in Enugu, Nigeria

The Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) launched the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) which would enable the nation to switch over from analogue to digital broadcasting.

Governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who was present at the NTA Enugu premises where the Digital Switch Over (DSO) took place, promised to buy 10,000 set top boxes to be distributed to residents of Enugu rural communities, to enable them to key into the digital world. Ugwuanyi said the rural dwellers in the 475 communities in Enugu state would benefit from the set top boxes since most of them may not be able to access the digital equipment.

“Our goal is to ensure that the less privileged have access to digital broadcasting,” he said. The governor also disclosed that 100 set top boxes presented to him by the Minister of Culture and Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at the occasion would be handed over to the security agencies in the state.
