MultiChoice to withdraw ANN7 TV from its bouquets

MultiChoice wants to remove the ANN7 news channel from its bouquets. This information was made public by Calvo Mawela, the CEO of MultiChoice South Africa. The operator wants to replace ANN7 on DStv with another news channel owned by people of color and plans to launch a call for tenders soon.

Thus, next August, month during which the contract between MultiChoice and ANN7 expires, the subsidiary of Naspers will not renew it. It must be said that the controversy over the alleged influence peddling between the operator and the Gupta through the TV.

In fact, MultiChoice is accused of having passed its annual ANN7 fee of 50 million rand to 141 million rand, to thank the Gupta who used their influence to the government to choose decoders that do not decrypt the signals of the operator, for TNT.

The South African authorities have just opened an inquiry into these payments at the request of the members of the Democratic Alliance party.
