Kwesé partners with Safaricom to provide Kenyans with live World Cup games

Kenyan smartphone users will have the opportunity to stream upcoming football World Cup matches on Kwesé iflix on-the-go on their gadgets. This follows the launch of data bundles, dubbed Giga Football Passes by mobile operator Safaricom.

The 64 matches of the tournament in Russia will be available live on Kwesé iflix at US$0,98 for 24 hours, inclusive of all data charges. The Giga Football Passes will be accessible from June 14 to all Safaricom customers, including for television viewing through the Safaricom Digital Box.

The Acting Director, Consumer Business at Safaricom Charles Kare stated, “This passion has informed our decision to partner with Kwesé iflix to give our customers an opportunity to watch the biggest sports spectacle in the world on their mobile devices for the first time ever.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Kwese iflix Mayur Patel, welcomed the expansion of the partnership with Safaricom. Patel said leveraging Safaricom’s superfast 4G+, 4G and 3G networks, subscribers would have the option to stream Kwesé iflix’s world-class programming, including the World Cup 2018 to any device of their choice.

To recall, Safaricom’s 4G+, 4G and 3G broadband network reaches 86 percent of the Kenyan population over 48 million.
