Ivory Coast bans analogue TV import

West African country, Ivory Coast, has imposed a ban on the import, sale and marketing of analogue television sets in the country in order to give a boost to the country’s digital migration project.

Minister of Communication Affoussiata Bamba-Lamine commented, “The passing over to digital technology is an important challenge and a great stake in terms of job creation and source incomes for government through licenses for the operation of new television channels.”

The announcement has however come as a blow to the business community dealing with electrical appliances in the country who have protested the move.
