On November 1, Iroko TV, the video-on-demand service founded by Jason Njoku, started operations in Ghana. The launch ceremony took place in the presence of the founder of the VoD service and the Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah. “I’ve worked with Iroko TV since its inception, and I’m extremely proud that it’s coming to Accra now to bring even more Ghanaian content and Nollywood movies here,” she said.
Iroko TV is launching in Accra with a team of about 30 people, which could rise to 140 by the end of November. 25 VoD application kiosks have been deployed in the city of Accra to support and advise subscribers in the accessibility of service on their terminals.
During the launching ceremony, Jason Njoku announced his intention to invest significant amounts in the local film industry.
