Hot gearing up for Internet TV

Israeli cable operator, HOT Telecom, will soon launch a new Fiberbox set-top-box integrated with the technology developed by Belgium based Zappware that will make it possible to view Hot content across a range of devices – including computers, tablets and smartphones. The move comes in response to planned IPTV offerings from the likes of Partner Communications and Cellcom.

HOT currently offers over 150 digitial TV channels, including 20 HD channels, and has approximately has 900,000 subscribers representing about 60% of the multi-channel television market in Israel.

In a separate development, Hot announced that it has made an additional ILS 135 million (USD 38.5 million) payment, plus linkage, for the acquisition of full control of Hot Mobile.
