In Benin, on November 10, the High Authority for Audiovisual and Communication (HAAC), sent a letter of formal notice to Canal 3. The authority accuses the private television channel to broadcast the show 100% Benin produced by Sikka Tv.
In fact, the provisions of the specifications of the private channels provide for a prior authorization of the HAAC before broadcasting programs of another channel. Despite the legal bases displayed by the authority, many voices have risen against this formal notice, arguing that it was a limit to the freedom of the press.
The most common argument from the local press is that it is virtually impossible for all private broadcasters to produce all of their broadcasts and to ask the HAAC to endorse each partnership is abusive.
