MultiChoice is making streaming service more affordable to the DStv Compact users, after waiving the fee for Showmax for DStv Premium subscribers. Towards the end of 2017, DStv delighted their Premium subscribers as it announced that streaming service Showmax would now be part of their package for free.
DStv has announced that its Compact and Compact Plus subscribers will now be able to get Showmax with a 50% discount. The cut effectively makes Showmax the cheapest television streaming service in the country. MultiChoice South Africa CEO Calvo Mawela said in a statement that more binge-watching has led to the need for the discount. “More and more customers are telling us they love to binge-watch box sets on DStv Catch Up and Showmax. It’s the way the world is moving and that’s why we’re offering all our Compact Plus and Compact customers Showmax at a big discount, so they can enjoy this exceptional experience.”
Showmax now boasts a catalogue of over 30 000 TV show episodes and movies. These can be accessed via the Explora decoder and DStv Now app for DStv subscribers. “A single Showmax subscription gives customers access to two concurrent streams on different devices, so parents can watch their shows on the big screen while the kids watch cartoons on their tablet. Showmax also gives customers the option to download up to 25 TV shows and movies to their smartphone or tablet for viewing later. It’s perfect for long road trips and flights.”
