DStv combines Indian bouquets in South Africa

DStv is combining its North and South Indian bouquets in South Africa into a single Indian package with the October 15 launch of three new channels from Star Network, a wholly-owned subsidiary of 21st Century Fox. Colors, Star Tamil and Star Hindi channels will be added to the combined DStv Indian package which will be available for ZAR319 (US$ 22.93) per month, or ZAR205 (US$ 14.74) as add-on to another DStv package.

Mark Rayner, COO for MultiChoice, said that the new DStv package was created due to growing demand for Indian channels in South Africa from both the north and south Indian communities. The two Star channels (Star Tamil and Star Hindi) will showcase Star Network’s premium content from 15 October to 30 November and, from 1 December, 2015, these channels will change to Star Vijay and Star Plus.

“The carriage deal with Multichoice reflects Star Network’s continued commitment to expand our channel offering to viewers worldwide. We are very pleased with our decision to make our premium Hindi & Tamil channels available to viewers in South Africa & look forward to a continued long-term relationship with MultiChoice,” said Gurjeev Singh Kapoor, president of Star International.
