The entertainment company, Discovery Networks Africa, has unveiled its programming slate during its Upfront event in Johannesburg, hosted by Lee Hobbs, the VP of Brand and Content, Discovery Networks CEEMEA and other eminent guests.
Hobbs commented: “In 2017 we are getting closer to our African audiences with several brand new series across our portfolio featuring local stories and local faces”.
Also, he said that: “From Idris Elba’s triumphant return to Discovery Channel, which includes a story filmed right here in South Africa, to the Next Great Presenter winner who will make their debut on TLC in January, next year our channels will be more locally-relevant than ever. And with the return of our big, popular global franchises, our 2017 DStv content offering will be truly unmissable”.
On Discovery Channel, the network will be serving its viewers with three new-fangled shows in Q1. It will feature ‘Honeymoon Pacific’, ‘Extreme, Authentic, Unwrapped’ and ‘Idris Elba’. Also, offered in Q1, is ‘Everest Rescue’. In Q3, the audience will be served with ‘Unabomber’.
On TLC Entertainment, ‘TLC’s most Extreme’ will be screened in Q1. Elsewhere, on Animal Planet, ‘Deadliest South Africa’ will be aired in Q1, alongside ‘Meet the Penguins’ and ‘Keeping up with The Kruger’.
