Eco@Africa signs the first collaboration between Deutsche Welle and Channels TV. Eco@Africa has been launched in Abuja, Nigeria this week. Eco@Africa is broadcast every Saturday and Monday on DW and every Sunday on Channels TV, one of the private news station in Nigeria.
This new eco programme focuses on environmental and ecological issues, innovations and protection ideas not only in Africa, Europe but also all over the world. The official launch event for the programme was done in Abuja.
During his speech Peter Limbourg, DW’s director general said: Eco@Africa offers us a great opportunity to work with a relevant partner on a program that highlights the issues that affect us all. We are convinced that this approach to presenting environmental issues will strike a chord with viewers – not only in Nigeria, but around the world.
He further said that this German-African cooperation marked a “special moment in the history of Deutsche Welle.” They started their partnership in July 2015.
On the other hand, John Momoh chairman of Channels TV added: “As we strive to help strengthen Africa’s commitment on sound environmental management, it is our hope that the program will assist in providing direction on the continent’s intended actions to address environmental issues affecting its people and the economy”.
