Channel 10 gets six-month extension

The Israeli regulator of commercial broadcasting, Second Television Authority, came to an agreement with Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein on a legal solution to enable the cash strapped Israeli commercial TV station, Channel 10 to stay on air for the next six months.

The cash strapped broadcaster had earlier announced to cease broadcasting from December 31, after years of financial trouble looming over the broadcast station.

While the station will not be receiving a permanent license, the amount of original programming it is obligated to produce will be reduced, which in turn would save the station about 75 million shekels (USD 19.2 million) over the first half of 2015.
