Canal+, the French pay TV operator, has secured exclusive rights to distribute Turkish Top-Tier football via A+ Sport channel in Sub-Saharan Africa. Distribution rights of Turkish Süper Lig, was secured by the Vivendi-owned operator, the matches will be aired in French to sub-Saharan Africa for the next three seasons from August.
Canal+ said that the agreement would reinforce the football coverage of the channel which launched a decade ago. The Süper Lig, features teams such as Besiktas, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. It also is popular in Africa because of its large number of players of African origin, including Atalyaspor’s Samuel Eto’o, Istambul Basaksehir’s Emmanuel Adebayor, Fenerbahçe’s Carlos Kameni and Mathieu Valbuena, Besktas’s Pepe and Galatasaray’s Bafétimbi Gomis and Younès Belhanda.
A+ Sport the offshoot of the A+ entertainment channel that Canal+ rolled out three years ago, will air a variety of local and international sports shows. The Jeux de la Francophonie and the final phases of the CAF Confederations Cup and the Basketball Champions League will be aired on A+ Sport, exclusively.
