The 2nd Sinema Zetu International Film Festival (SZIFF) started on 1st of January 2019. These 53 days long festival focus on ‘Swahili Panorama’ and ‘World Cinema’.
Swahili Panorama represents Feature Films, SERIES, Dramas, Short Films & Documentaries produced in Swahili. ‘World Cinema’ represents movies from any country/language, produced or subtitled in English. Thus, any movie that will showcase the cultural diversity of the country forms part of the ‘World Cinema’
The screening of Swahili Panorama will be in the flagship channel ‘Sinema ZEtu’ while movies under ‘World Cinema’ will be screened in movie theatres in Tanzania.
Swahili panorama has representation of more than 200 films from countries in Africa. World Panorama, which was introduced this year has movies from 19 countries including Afghanistan, China, Estonia, India, Iran, Italy, Indonesia, Germany, Kenya, Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Zambia.
Festival Director Jacob Joseph commented that the festival will bestow ‘Certificate of Excellence & Cash Awards’ to filmmakers as a tribute to their creativity, innovation and Commitment.
Azam TV holds the honour of hosting the film festival. The Award Night is schedule on 23rd of February in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
