AREWA24, Northern Nigerian free-to-air Hausa-language channel, has signed a multi-year partnership with Eutelsat Communications to lease transponder capacity on Eutelsat 16A satellite.
This deal enables AREWA24 to strengthen its footprint across Sub-Saharan Africa by utilising Ku-band capacity. The Eutelsat 16A also enables the channel to extend its reach to Hausa-speaking communities throughout Nigeria including Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Cameroon, said a statement.
“We are extremely proud to bring the finest broadcasting resources to our television channel and to enrich the lives of our viewers by showcasing the beauty, promise and potential of Northern Nigeria to Hausa speakers across Nigeria and West and Central Africa. The choice of the EUTELSAT 16A satellite demonstrates our ongoing commitment to raising the bar for our viewers and partnering with a satellite provider that has long demonstrated its commitment to Africa,” said Jacob Arback, President of AREWA24.
AREWA24 was launched in 2014. It provides content in various genres such as music, entertainment, lifestyle, business, employment, arts and sports.
