Amazon Prime Video extends reach in 200 countries including South Africa

Amazon Prime Video, the OTT video streaming service provider of Amazon, now paves its way into 200 countries including South Africa. The Prime Video app can be downloaded via smartphones, tablets and smart TVs for streaming shows and films.

Tim Leslie, the Vice President of Prime Video, said: “We are excited to announce that starting today‚ fans around the world have access to Prime Video”.

Further, he said that: “The Grand Tour and other critically acclaimed Amazon Original Series like Transparent‚ Mozart in the Jungle‚ and The Man in the High Castle‚ along with hundreds of popular Hollywood movies and TV shows‚ are now available at the introductory price of only 2.99 USD a month. And what’s really exciting is that we are just getting started”.

For the first six months, the Prime Video membership will cost 2.99 USD for South Africans monthly after which the price will be increased to 5.99 USD monthly. A seven-day trial is also available for free. Members have the ability to customise the service to save data by opting their visual quality settings. Downloaded films and shows can be watched offline.

Amazon stated that: “That means watching on a plane‚ train‚ anywhere at no additional cost”.
