Al Jazeera faces technical problems in broadcast

Qatari broadcaster, Al Jazeera, has encountered massive technical problems which has forced the 24-hour Arabian TV-news channel to switch its news output from its headquarters in Doha to London.

Reports suggest that the problems started on June 2 this year and while Al Jazeera have not revealed the cause of the problem, the Qatari broadcaster instead said, “We are working around the clock to fix the issue, and have actioned a recovery plan that has made sure we’ve stayed on air during this problem”.

On the other hand, Al Jazeera’s sports platform, BeIN Sports, too has disruptions on its broadcast hours ahead of the World Cup event. Subscribers have complained of a black box containing a printed code flashed on the screen. A du spokesman said that it was “a precaution taken by beIN Sports to avoid pirated signals. This comes directly from the broadcaster source to scramble any attempts made to pirate the channel signal.”
