ABS Broadcast and Ziptv launched IPTV platform in Ghana

ABS Broadcast is providing downlinking and turnaround services to Ghana’s premium IPTV platform Ziptv. Ziptv is now receiving leading linear channels from ABS Broadcast, including AMC Movies, AMC Series, CNN, BBC News plus many more. This IPTV delivery solution was established and delivered by ABS Broadcast within a few days.

The OTT Ziptv platform is part of Broadband Home Ltd, Ghana’s first Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) provider. Broadband Home Ltd trades under the brands Zipnet, Ziptv and Ziptel.

Emmanuel Antwi Kwarteng, Executive Director at Zipnet, says that “ABS Broadcast has enabled our new platform to provide our customers with a wide variety of popular in-demand content. We’re very satisfied with this service; the project set-up was very smooth and seamless.”

The Ziptv IPTV streaming platform provides customers with linear television, transactional VOD, subscription VOD and set-top box (STB) entertainment packages. The content is a mixture of international blockbuster movies and popular television series, with a large offering of African content.

Although the platform doesn’t officially launch until next month, its 50+ channels and over 1000 movies, series and documentaries can be watched on the Ziptv smartphone app, which is available to download immediately from the Google Play store.

ABS Broadcast has a strong portfolio of channels to whom they deliver turnaround services. Although they have grown a large client base in Africa, this is now their first venture into the Ghanaian television market.

Mukund Patel, Head of Technology & Engineering at ABS Broadcast declared: “We were able to achieve this fast turnaround service for Ziptv due to the latest technology that we have invested in at our playout centre in London. We are able to downlink and deliver content to multiple global destinations with ease.”
