A+ Sport channel goes live in Africa

Canal+ launched a new sports channels in Africa, branded A+ Sport. The channel is said to show a variety of local and international sports. It will show coverage from the Jeux de la Francophonie, the final phases of the CAF Confederations Cup, and the Basketball Champions League.

The newly added Canal+ channel is an offshoot of the A+ entertainment channel brand that the broadcaster rolled out in July 2014. 80 per cent of the programming is made in Francophone Africa, 40 per cent in other African regions and 20 per cent hailed from the Carribean or United States.

Vivendi, Canal+’s parent company, said the launch of A+ Sport ensures a “strategic continuity” in Africa, focusing around accessibility and proximity.

A+ Sports is offered exclusively on Bouquets Canal+ packages and as part of the Easy TV DTT offering in Brazzaville and in Congo.
